The Adventures of Tom Sawyer were written because?

The adventures of Tom Sawyer is the fictional masterpiece of Mark Twain. It made it's debut in 1876.

It was the adventures of a kid that grew up near the Mississippi River in a town called St. Petersburg. Missouri. He was an orphan that was being raised by his aunt Polly.

The adventures involved him and his two good friends, Joe Harper and Huckleberry Finn. He is trying to win the girl of his dreams miss Becky Thatcher but mist of the times he was getting into trouble with his many misadventures, as a pirate or Indian or a ships captain or many others.

Huckleberry Finn

The best know bit of mischief he gets into is when he convinces his friends to while wash a long fence for him. This was a result of punishment he was given or another misdeed.

Tom was always in trouble for a youngster but we suppose it was Mark Twain's use of a symbol of a child growing up to become a man. It also depicted some of the things that Mark Twain had dreamed about doing as a lad growing on the Mississippi River.

The character of Tom Sawyer is also involved in three other novels written by Mark Twain. They include; the adventures of Huckleberry Finn (1884), Tom Sawyer Abroad (1894) and Tom Sawyer, Detective (1896).

Many movies have been made about Tom Sawyer and his misadventures on the Mississippi River along with his friends beginning in 1907 thru to just recently with an animated version of the adventures of Tom Sawyer in the year 2000 which had many big named stars doing the voice dubbings for the various characters.
